They have chosen an interesting group of codes to review, majority of freuqently utilized procedure codes. It is interesting that they are just now publishing this information since we have been seeing these reviews for the past 2 months!

It was very interesting to see the areas we tell our clients about were showcased on this program. There are so many details to be seen by simply reviewing the submitted claims and identifying patterns when it comes to abusive billing practices. In these cases, the inappropriate billing is already identified before the medical record is even reviewed. The show just gave us a small peek into a huge problem.

I will be tuning into this program. I hope this draws more attention to this problem in our country and encourages people to do the right thing!

Not surprising since so many specialties have banned together wanting this delay. With all of the other administratively burdensome regulations (PQRS, EHR, eScribing) happening it makes it difficult on small practices to keep their heads above water.

We are now experiencing issues with secondary claim adjudication when the secondary is medigap due to the ANSI 5010 transition. This has resulted in secondary payors issuing payment to the place of service address instead of the remittance address.

There continues to be huge issues with payors and clearinghouses properly sending out 835 files causing huge issues with bank reconciliation and allowing resolution to outstanding AR.

There also continues to be numerous issues with many of the payors clearinghouses. We are hopeful that they do not all wait until the end of June but continue to move forward with implementation through the coming months but it doesn’t look like they will. :(

While RC Billing has seen the majority of the MAC's successfully implement 5010 as well as several of the larger commercial payors there continues to be a large number of commercial payors that are not compliant.
